Juvenile detained for making hoax call at IGI Airport

A 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the May 18 incident, when a hoax call was made saying that a bomb had been planted in a flight scheduled from IGI Airport, Delhi.

On Wednesday, a hoax call was received by the airport officials that a bomb has been planted in a flight that was scheduled from Delhi at 4 am.

After investigation, it was found out that the call was made at the Mumbai based call centre of Air India.

Following the incident, a general alert was declared and ultimately the call was found to be hoax.

Considering the gravity of the airport security and the public fear, alarm and panic created by the caller by this hoax call, a case under Section 505 (b) of the IPC and 3 (1) (d)- the suppression of unlawful acts against the safety of civil aviation act- was registered at the Police Station IGI Airport.

Subsequently, raids in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were conducted and one Juvenile Conflict with Law (JCL) was found involved behind the crime.

The JCL was apprehended and the alleged mobile phone instrument as well as the sim card has been recovered on his instance.

On questioning the JCL revealed that his father purchased a calendar of current year 2016 which is published by Sh. Thakur Prasad Pustak Bhandar based at Varanasi, UP and in this calendar contains toll free number of different service agencies were printed and the JCL chose the toll free number of Air India call centre.

The punishment under the suppression of unlawful act against the safety of civil aviation is life imprisonment.

Since last many days the IGI airport is facing traumatic situation due to such calls.

Apprehension of such a hoax caller and punishment of life imprisonment shall definitely discourage the hoax callers.
