A fan has put Kanye West into legal trouble as he has sued the rapper and the streaming company owned by Jay Z.

In the legal suit, the fan has said that they have tricked people into subscribing to Tidal by fraudulently claiming it was the only way to buy West's album 'The Life of Pablo,' reports News.com.au.

Justin Baker-Rhett said that he signed up for the 9.99 dollars a month Tidal service after the 38-year-old rapper tweeted on February 15 that his latest album would never be sold anywhere else.

But West later released his album on other streaming services such as Spotify and Apple iTunes.

Baker-Rhett said the scheme tripled Tidal's subscriber base to three million, boosted its value by 60 million dollars to 84 million dollars and threatened fans' privacy by forcing them to turn over credit card and other personal information.

The company and the rapper have not commented on the issue yet.

Tidal and West did not immediately respond to email requests for comment.

'Pablo' was streamed more than 250 million times within 10 days of release, the lawsuit said.
