Afghan President Hamid Karzai has reportedly asked for co-operation from Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and extremism and warned that if terrorism doesn't end now, the coming generations will have to face the consequences.

According to The Express Tribune, Karzai said that terrorism and extremism as a political tool is in no country's interest and called for Pakistan to join hands with Afghanistan to fight terrorism and extremism.

Congratulating Pakistani teenage education activist Malala Yousafzai on her 16th birthday, Karzai said that the pursuit of education in both Afghanistan and Pakistan was impeded by terrorists and expressed concern over students, teachers and education workers being frequently targeted by terrorists on either side of the Durand Line.

Karzai further said that the attacks on students and educational institutes are an 'act by the enemies of Islam' and the elements who oppose peoples' progress and development commit such crimes', the report added.
