KCR to remain in touch with Congress for developmental work on Telangana

Amid speculations over a possible merger of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with the Congress, party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has said that he would remain in touch with the Congress for developmental work of Telangana, which is all set to become the 29th Indian state after Parliament approved the bill to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

Rao has been at the forefront of the Telangana movement for the past 10 years.

He met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday fueling the speculation of a possible alliance.

Meanwhile Congress leaders from Andhra Pradesh also met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence putting forth their demands.

Congress leader Ganga Bhavani said she was satisfied with the meeting as Sonia Gandhi gave a patient hearing to all her problems and promised concrete action.

"I have met madam and told her about the problems faced by Seemandhra people from where I belong. I also belong to Kapu community. We have asked to include us into Backward Class category. It was our demand for over a long time. We have been economically backward. Madam responded positively. Communities that are just 4-5 % of the total population ruled Seemandhra until now. Being single largest community, we will work hard for Congress," said Bhavani.

Another Congress leader, MA Khan, who accompanied Bhavani, said the Congress assured all possible help to the people in his region.

"In both the regions, Seemandhra people need not be afraid of anything. We have assured them that we will help them to keep their children, lives and property safe," said Khan.
