In the wake of sexual allegations made against Harvey Weinstein, musician Keith Urban has come forward with a new song partly inspired by the Weinstein sexual abuse and harassment scandal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Australian country music superstar debuted 'Female', written by three Nashville hit-makers just a few weeks ago, at the Country Music Association Awards.
On the red carpet at the CMA Awards, Urban said he dropped everything to work on the song.
The song written by Shane McAnally, Nicolle Galyon, and Ross Copperman, amid movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and other entertainment industry figures being accused of sexual misconduct in recent weeks.
"Female" explores themes of gender roles, equality, and consent.
Emmy award-winning actress and Urban's wife, Nicole Kidman, was not with her man on the red carpet but posted a Facebook message congratulating him on the song.
Urban recorded it on Halloween, and the quick release ensures that the song gets attention while the nation is still discussing the predatory behavior and abuse of power at the heart of that ongoing story.
