Krishna devotees swarm ISKON temple on Janmashtami

Thousands thronged ISKCON temple here on Saturday to offer prayers on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

The prayers will be held throughout the night at ISKCON temple to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

Lord Krishna is said to have been born at midnight on the ashtami or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan (August-September). This auspicious day is called Janmashtami.
