A man has been arrested for reportedly being caught on a video racially abusing a Japanese woman on a London tube.

During the five-minute clip, which appeared on YouTube, the man was seen shouting verbal abuse and alleged racial slurs at the woman sitting opposite him.

'You're a vicious bunch of f****** *****,' he said.

According to the Mirror, the man goes on to claim that his uncle died in World War II in Japan.

He then turned to the passenger filming the incident and asked where he is from.

The incident is believed to have happened on Tuesday evening on the Bakerloo Line around Queen's Park.

British Transport Police said a 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
