Lorde has taken to Twitter to shame an American entertainment reporter for wrongly assuming that she was engaged.
The 17-year-old posted a screenshot of a message her boyfriend, photographer James Lowe, received from an E! News reporter in Los Angeles, asking about an apparent "diamond ring" on Lorde's ring finger and congratulating the couple, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, was less than impressed.
A disappointed E! News conceded defeat after a representative for the Kiwi double-Grammy winner confirmed she was not engaged.
