Days after announcing electoral alliance for the crucial Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday took out a joint road show under the theme 'UP ko ye saath pasand hai' (UP relishes this alliance), hours after they held a joint press conference.

This is their maiden road show together after the two leaders entered a seat sharing agreement for the polls, which starts from February 11.

Congress will be contesting on 105 seats, out of the 403 seats and the rest of 298 seats will be contested by the Samajwadi Party.

During their road show, the duo were showered by their ardent supporters. One of the highlights of show was that only Akhilesh' face and the party's symbol was visible throughout the procession.

The young leaders paid tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and sought his blessings.

The road show began from the GPO Park, near the Gandhi state, and later through the Mayfair roundabout to Lalbagh, Novelty roundabout and then its way to Qaiserbagh through Muslim dominated areas like Aminabad and old city.

Rahul and Akhilesh later went to Nakkhas, Chowk, Ghantaghar, where the road show concluded.
