Maharashtra Cabinet on Friday decided to issue an ordinance to amend SEBC Reservation Act 2018 in order to give protection to candidates in postgraduate medical admissions.
The Cabinet also decided to reimburse the fees to the affected candidates in private colleges.
The decision from the cabinet came after the state government received permission from the Election Commission (EC) to promulgate an ordinance for Maratha reservation in PG medical courses. The government had made a special request to the poll body, stating this would be a major issue in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
Besides, the Cabinet also reviewed the drought situation, El-Nino effects, weather-related predictions, water storage in various dams, fodder availability and seeds stock. At present, there are 5493 tankers which are operating across 4331 villages in the state. Not only that, Rs 162 crore has been allocated for fodder camps.
Moreover, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also directed the state officials to also speed up issuing of ration cards in rural areas where people have applied for, especially in drought-prone areas.
