West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Monday, said the latter has assured her that he will look into the financial situation of her state.
"The Prime Minister agreed that West Bengal is under maximum debt and has shown financial discipline despite of this. He has assured us to look into it," Banerjee told media here.
"I have informed about the economic situation of Bengal. We have requested the Prime Minister to give us relaxation in debt, as many of our projects for welfare of West Bengal people are still pending," she added.
Earlier this afternoon, Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House here.
After the one-to-one meeting, another meeting was held between Prime Minister Modi and the TMC MPs in which the West Bengal Chief Minister was also present.
