The Thane Police on Saturday named former Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni as an accused in one of the biggest ever drug racket busted earlier this year.

Kulkarni's husband Vicky Goswami had earlier been named as an accused for his alleged connection to the racket, which involved making ephedrine in India and sending it abroad to an international drug cartel.

Thane Police Commissioner Paramveer Singh said Red Corner Notices will soon be issued against the couple through the Interpol.

"According to the new evidences, Mamta Kulkarni is now also an accused. Her husband Vicky Goswami is already an accused," Singh told the media.

"We will send request to Interpol for Red Corner Notice against Mamta Kulkarni through the CBI. We are also verifying her bank accounts and the investments she had made. Some people from Bollywood are also being investigated for their connections with Mamta Kulkarni and Vicky Goswami," he added.

The Thane Police had earlier in April seized 18.5 tonnes of ephedrine, a precursor to methamphetamines, from a factory in Solapur and arrested ten accused so far in this regard.
