Devastated Mariah Carey seems to be still in the dark about why her billionaire fiance James Packer 'dumped her out of nowhere' in the midst of their wedding preparations.

A source informed that Carey was 'blindsided' when Packer dumped her and to add insult to injury, the 46-year-old singer only learned that the engagement was over when she saw it in the press, reports E! Online.

"The split has been devastating for Mariah. She loved James and was planning to marry him," another source revealed.

"She made life changes for this man to prepare for their future as husband and wife, even relocating to L.A., at James' request, so he could be closer to his children. Everything she has done over the past year is to prove how fully committed she is to their life together. She really wanted this to work. And then, completely out of the blue, it imploded," the source added.

Reportedly, the breakdown of the couple's relationship started in Greece with "some sort of outburst" where the father of three made a reference about things becoming "too much" and saying, "I don't know if I can do this. I can barely take care of my own children."

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old Australian businessman is alleged to have ended his 10-month engagement to the US pop star as he was concerned over the pop-star's extravagant lifestyle and their lack of privacy.
