Massive fire in Gorakhpur textile factory

Fire broke out in a textile factory in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district on Sunday.

The fire broke out around 6.30 a.m and people living in the vicinity informed the fire department after they saw billows of smoke coming out of the building.

No casualty has been reported yet. Two fire tenders reached the spot and tried to control the raging inferno in the three-storey building. However, air force personnel had to be called to douse the fire.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. Losses are being estimated to be worth in millions.

Meanwhile, local residents blamed the state administration for ill-equipped fire department.

"Due to lack of resources from the administration, the fire department has not been able to put out the fire. There was a fire in another textile company and even then the fire department was not able to control it and the company had incurred losses in millions. All the entrepreneurs are very angry at this," said a local resident, Ramesh Gupta.
