New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): 'Masti' franchise has always been loaded with fun, frolic and laughter, and 'Great Grand Masti' is no different.
Speaking about the success of the franchise, Riteish Deshmukh, who has been a part of the film since its inception, said this to be the only series to have experimented with so many genres while keeping the comedy quotient up to the mark.
In conversation with ANI, the 37-year-old actor said, "We were unsure about 'Masti' franchise's success when we were making a comeback with 'Grand Masti' after 10 years. But to our surprise, it became one of the first adult comedy films to be in the 100 crores club. I think the reason behind the success is also the fact that each film is different to its last installment."
For the unversed, the first movie of this comedy franchise 'Masti' dealt with thriller, the second installment, titled 'Grand Masti,' was a sex-comedy and now the third one, 'Great Grand Masti' deals with horror.
"The 'Masti' franchise is the only one to explore and create different genres within comedy. I feel glad that the makers of the film wanted to retain us (Riteish, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani) as the lead for the third installment of the franchise," he added.
While the makers decided to retain the male leads in all three films, they kept on changing actresses opposite them, who with them, brought in the different genres to this comedy series.
This time, 'Great Grand Masti' has Urvashi Rautela, portraying a 'virgin ghost,' giving a horror tint to it.
The film, directed by Indra Kumar, will hit the screens on July 15.
