Germany's center back Per Mertesacker has said that they want to finish the World Cup on a high as Joachim Low's men prepare for the tournament finale against Argentina on Sunday.

Germany humiliated Brazil in Belo Horizonte with a 7-1 victory over the hosts, which is their heaviest defeat ever, to establish Low's side as favourites to claim their fourth World Cup at the Maracana with their players' confidence soaring.

Mertesacker said that Germany wants to finish the tournament on the high and that means performance-wise, adding that the squad's performance against Brazil was nearly 100 percent, The Guardian reported.

Mertesacker said that one could see the difference between Germany and Brazil and that is why they created history, but he added that that is not all as the Germans want more history and they do not want to just settle for the result before the final.

The German said that after the game against Brazil it is going to be hard not to be considered favourites for the final, but he added that they must stay focused and they cannot lose their focus now because they scored seven goals.

Mertesacker further said that they must stay focused and play the same way as they did against Brazil, adding that they want to achieve something special with this team.

The center back said that the focus is needed in the final; otherwise they have no chance, because if they drop even five percent than they have no chance against Argentina.
