The Met Department on Saturday said that it expected temperatures to drop further in the coming days.

B P Yadav, Director of the Department of Meteorology, told ANI on Saturday after a dust storm and rains struck the capital and nearby vicinities that the change in weather pattern was due to the excessive summer heat and harsh sun rays.

"Now, the temperature has come down, and after three days, the temperature will decrease some more. The wind speed was noted at 84-kilometers per hour by our equipments at safdurjung," he said.

Yadav was speaking to ANI shortly after strong winds and cloud cover brought some relief to people in Delhi from the searing heat.

A dusty breeze, accompanied by rain, swept across the city, bringing temperatures down.

The temperature had been hovering around 42 to 44 degrees Celsius over the last few days.
