Former state chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said he met special representative for Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma on Wednesday and discussed on the prevailing situation in the Valley.
Abdullah told ANI, "Dineshwar Sharma sent a message saying he wants to meet me. He told me about the responsibilities he is dealing with as the new interlocutor. We discussed the prevailing situation in the state and also steps that can be taken to make his visits to the state more meaningful."
He added that Sharma asked for his suggestions to guide him through.
"He also asked how he can make his mission fruitful. I hope he will consider my suggestions. We all want to solve Kashmir issue through a dialogue and make Valley's environment peaceful," Abdullah further said.
Earlier in the day, the former chief minister tweeted, "Mr Dineshawar Sharma & I met at my residence in Srinagar this morning. We discussed the prevailing situation in the state as also steps that can be taken to make his visits to the state more meaningful."
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh on Monday said, "Sharma is an experienced person and he expects good results out of the talk process."
The new interlocutor is in the Valley for a dialogue process with various political parties, socio-cultural organisations, individuals and opinion makers.
He will hold talks with Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and various other delegations.
