Hours after U.K. channel Sky pulled the plug on an upcoming scripted program featuring Michael Jackson due to criticism, Lifetime revealed that the network is prepping their own biopic revolving around the King of Pop.
Tentatively titled 'Searching for Neverland', the Lifetime movie captures Jackson's final years through the perspective of two of his personal bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, reports E! Online.
The new film, 'Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland' (working title), will be based on the book, 'Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days' and the filming will start in February this year.
Navi, who is dubbed the world's number one Michael Jackson tribute artist, will make his acting debut as the star himself.
The project hails from exec producer Suzanne de Passe (The Jacksons: An American Dream), who worked with Jackson and the Jackson 5 early in her career as a creative assistant to Motown head Berry Gordy.
Lifetime's Michael Jackson flick is just the latest in its series of movies based on pop stars. 'Britney Ever After', the Britney Spears movie, is coming in February and previous movies have focused on Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Aaliyah.
