Police in Uttara Pradesh's Jaunpur area have confirmed receiving a complaint about a 12-year-old girl being raped during a wedding.
According to a preliminary investigation, the police said that the family had told them that they were attending the wedding, when the 12-year-old, who is both deaf and dumb, was raped by some male members from the groom's side. The incident took place in the Baksha police station area of Jaunpur district.
Police said the victim has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment and confirmation of rape. Further details are awaited.
