Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Barbora Strycova from Czech Republic produced a solid performance against Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova to reach the women's doubles semifinal at the Wuhan Open here on Friday.
The Indo-Czech pair claimed a 6-3, 7-6 win over Timea and Yaroslava in an exciting contest that lasted one hour and 18 minutes. They will next face Chinese Taipei duo of Chan Yung-Jan and Chan Hao-Ching for a place in the final.
Sania and Strycova joined forces at the Cincinnati Open for the first time after splitting with Swiss star Martina Hingis last month. They defeated Martina Hingis and CoCo Vandeweghe in the final to win the Cincinnati Open.
However, they were knocked out of the US Open, the fourth and final major of the season, after losing in the quarterfinals.
