Skipper Mithali Raj struck a composed half-century as the Indian women's cricket team outplayed Sri Lanka by six wickets in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series here at JSCA International Stadium on Wednesday.
In reply to Sri Lanka's 178-9, the hosts chased down the target in just 43.1 overs with six wickets to spare, thanks to Mithali (53 not out) and Harmanpreet Kaur (41).
Openers Smriti Mandhana (46) and Thirush Kamini (26) provided a solid start to their side as the duo shared an opening stand of 67 runs.
For Sri Lanka, Sugandika Kumari was the pick of the bowlers as she bagged four wickets for 39 runs.
Dilani Manodara (43 not out) and Prasadani Weerakkody (37) were the notable scorers for Sri Lanka, which opted to bat first.
The two sides will now play the inconsequential third match at the same venue on Friday.
