A total of 209 candidates are contesting the Mizoram assembly elections. Election to the 40-member state assembly is slated to be held in a single phase on November 28.
Of 209, the ruling Congress has fielded 40 candidates while opposition parties in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Mizo National Front (MNF), are contesting in 39 and 40 assembly seats respectively.
Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is contesting from two seats - Serchhip and Champhai South.
The last day of withdrawal was yesterday.
The Congress has been in power in the state since 2008.
