Mock drills in Guwahati to raise quake awareness

A mega mock drill on earthquake was recently held in Guwahati to assess multi-state disaster preparedness.

The mock drill was conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in association with the State Disaster Management Authority.

"The aim of organizing this drill is to see that if a high intensity earthquake strikes northeast and thousands of people get affected, then how much prepared the State Government, district authorities, NDRF, army and air force are to handle the situation," said Major General B K Dutta, an official.
