The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat mission appeared to be directed at removing "unwanted" bureaucrats, rather than at creating a cleaner India.
"The removal of two key bureaucrats in the last 48 hours suggests that there is a different ideology in operation," AAP leader Ashutosh told ANI.
"I feel that the 'Swatch Bharat mission' wasn't a mission to clean India, but an attempt to clean India of its bureaucracy," he added.
According to reports, Gujarat cadre IAS officer Vijaylakshmi Joshi, the head of the Swachh Bharat mission sought voluntary retirement for personal reasons.
On Monday, Home Secretary LC Goyal, had sought voluntary retirement from the government services citing personal reasons.
