Former opener Mohsin Khan, who enjoyed considerable success during his short tenure as Pakistan's interim coach, has said he can instill that same spirit and hunger once again into the players.

Khan was the Pakistan national team's interim head coach for five months before being replaced by Dav Whatmore in March 2012.

Under him, Pakistan won Test series victories against Sri Lanka and a 3-0 whitewash of the then No.1 ranked side England, leading many to question the decision to not extend his term.

However, two years down the line and with Dav Whatmore due to exit his post this month, Khan has once again emerged as a possible contender for to be head coach of the Pakistan team.

In exclusive remarks to PakPassion.net, Khan said his sole intention is always for the betterment of Pakistan cricket whether that be as a player, coach, selector or in any other capacity.

He was confident that he has the respect of the players and the skills to get the best out those who will play under his tutelage.

Khan also felt the current side, the nucleus of which remains since his time as interim coach, needs to rekindle the spirit which brought them success during that series.

The PCB has set a deadline of February 6 to receive applications from interested parties for the head coaching position.
