Disney's 'Monsters University' - a sequel of 2001 hit 'Monsters, Inc.' has beaten Superman film 'Man of Steel' and zombie flick 'World War Z' to attain the top position at box office with earnings totalling 82 million dollars.
'Monsters University, is Pixar's 14th consecutive film to open in the first place.
Brad Pitt's 'World War Z' was placed second with a total earning of 66 million dollars, Fox News reported.
Warner Bros. 'Man of Steel came third at the box office, with 41.2 million dollars earnings.
The Sony comedy 'This Is the End,' starring Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill finished in fourth place with 13 million dollar earnings.
Summit Entertainment's magic-heist thriller 'Now You See Me' took the fifth spot with earning of 7,87 million dollars.
