Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh on Tuesday called for a debate on Article 370, and said that Jammu and Kashmir has not benefitted and has been deprived of many services due it.
"Jammu and Kashmir has not benefitted from Article 370 and the state has been deprived of so many benefits because of this law. Lots of services could have been provided to the state and its people. Therefore Article 370 must be removed," said Dr. Singh.
"We need to have a debate on Article 370. We need to make people understand about the constraints of this law," he added.
He further said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had said that Article 370 is a temporary provision and the same is written in the constitution also.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised the issue of Article 370, which gives special and autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, in one of his rallies in Kashmir.
