The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday contributed Rs. 2 crore to Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the prevailing flood situation in the state.
Minister of State for Cooperatives of Madhya Pradesh Government Bishwas Sarang handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the latter's office in Janata Bhavan.
Bishwas Sarang also discussed the flood situation in the state with Chief Minister Sonowal.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached Guwahati to take stock of the flood situation in the state.
Last month, an Inter-Ministerial team, comprising seven members, had visited the state to assess the damage caused by recent floods.
As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) 11,93,458 people in 1,795 villages of 24 districts have been affected by the floods.
Assam has been reeling under heavy floods since mid-July and as many as 79 people have lost their lives in the devastating situation.
