A major fire at Damunagar slums in Kandivali east area of Mumbai has claimed one life as a child died in the fire and three others including a woman were injured.
Fire Brigade officials informed that the fire is brought under control after almost two hours.
The officials said that it was a Grade II fire and the blaze broke out after two cylinder blasts.
The fire spread quickly due to densely situated houses in the slums.
Many hutments have been completely gutted. 16 fire engines and 12 water tankers were pressed into service to control the fire from spreading.
The injured have been admitted to Shatabdi hospital.
