An infant was found dead in a Mumbai society on Thursday afternoon, following which police has sent the body for postmortem and launched a probe to investigate the cause of death.
According to Mumbai police, information regarding an infant lying in the duct of Jai Bharat society was received on Thursday afternoon.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and took the infant to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
A case of accidental death was registered and police sent the infant's body for postmortem.
"Mother of the infant is being questioned on suspicion", the police said.
