#MyDefyMoment: B-Town refuses to obey

Kick-started by former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble, #MyDefyMoment has now taken over the interest of Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar and Nidhi Agrewal.

#MyDefyMoment is a part of the promotional campaign for a sports gear company, which helps people to share moments of their life, where they refuse to obey and do something different.

Commencing the act, Anil Kumble uploaded a photo of himself on the cricket ground, writing, "Not many of you would know this, but during my early years I was a medium pacer. However, that didn't last long, as many seniors & fellow club players told me that I had a suspect action. Instead of giving up on my dreams, I persevered. I reformed my bowling style and became a leg spinner. And for me, that was #MyDefyMoment.

I am sure, like me, there are many of you out there who have had their defiant moments."

Revealing his defiant moment in a long note, Farhan took to Instagram and uploaded a snap of himself and Indian track and field athlete Milkha Singh and wrote, "Thank you to the legendary @anil.kumble for nominating my name to share #MyDefyMoment. It was at the press conference in Chandigarh to announce my playing the role of Milkha Singh. A journalist openly asked Rakeysh Mehra, the director if he'd made a wrong choice in casting me in the titular role. I wasn't an athlete, wasn't Sikh, have lived in a city all my life, nor do I speak Punjabi."

"Rakeysh answered in my defense but that question fuelled my determination to be the best Milkha I could be. To give every ounce of energy I had to create a believable portrayal. It was one of the toughest experiences of my life but worth every drop of sweat. Although my first reaction to that journalist's question was feeling annoyed, I thank her for lighting the fire that pushed me to defy that perception. We all have such moments in our lives.. so #GetSetDefy and be the best version of yourself.

I further nominate @nidhhiagerwal to share her Defy moment," he added.

Nominated by Farhan, Munna Michael' star Nidhhi Agerwal wrote, "I have always been obsessed with cinema, becoming an actor was an impossible dream coming from nowhere. It took me a lot of courage and of course being crazy to think I could actually become one and leave home to pursue my dream. I have defied a lot of family, friends, critics, naysayers along the way. From leaving my comfort zone to performing every day and working on myself to getting better each day. I have faced so many big and small defy moments and come out stronger. And today I feel the strongest I have ever been."

Filmmaker Ritesh Sidhwani also wrote, "The defying moment of my life was when I decided to leave the comfort of my family business to pursue my passion which was to make films and I am glad that I was persistent about chasing what I believed in. Today when I look back, I know I have made the right choice.
