World number one Rafael Nadal has advanced to his fourth Australian Open semi-final after defeating Maria Sharapova's boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov in their quarter-final match on Wednesday at the Melbourne Park.
According to the official Australian Open website, despite being pushed to the limit with an impressive effort by the No.22 seed Dimitrov, the Spaniard and the 2009 Melbourne champion took control in the fourth set to beat the Bulgarian 3-6 7-6(3) 7-6(7) 6-2 at the Rod Laver Arena in almost four hours.
Nadal will play the winner of Wednesday night's quarterfinal between fourth seed Andy Murray and sixth seed Roger Federer in a blockbuster semifinal on Friday night.
