Naomi Campbell has been convicted in a 2009 paparazzo assault case, and given six months suspended prison sentence by a Sicilian court.
The 45-year-old model's attorney Guido Carlo Alleva said that they would appeal the ruling and refused to say anything further citing ongoing legal process, E! Online reported.
According to the reports, the incident had occurred when the photographer, Gaetano Di Giovanni, was clicking the beauty's pictures with her then-boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin, when Campbell hit him with her purse, and allegedly ended up scratching his eye.
Di Giovanni, who had to seek medical treatment and recovered after three days, had said back in 2013 after Campbell was ordered to stand trial in Italy that he didn't expect such a violent reaction.
Though Campbell's attorneys had settled the matter with the photographer and he withdrew the charges, prosecutor Francesco Massara had ordered the trial to go ahead in the public interest due to the intensity of the charges.
