Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday hailed the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir, calling their union a 'historic' event. ith good governance, the BJP and PDP will solve problems of people in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh," Naqvi told ANI.
"The BJP will develop the parts of J-K which have been far neglected and where there was no light of development," he added.
Earlier in the day, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was sworn-in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir while BJP leader Nirmal Singh took oath as the state's deputy chief minister.
The new government will end the 49-day Governor's rule in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and party veteran L K Advani were among those who attended the ceremony.
