The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the country needs to look for a solution that does not compromise with the territorial integrity of either India or China.
"A solution has to be found that does not compromise with the territorial integrity and certainly removes these kinds of incidents that would not be good in the long term relationship between the two countries," said party spokesperson Nalin Kohli.
"After President Xi's visit last year, they had repeated such intrusions along the border with China," he added.
Kohli asserted that there is a mechanism now which is getting activated and a meeting is taking place at such a high level boards well for both nation.
Kohli was speaking as Special Representatives of India and China began their 18th round of border dispute talks in New Delhi today.
This is the first time that the NDA Government will engage China on the border issue after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was appointed as India's Special Representative in November last year.
Chinese State Councillor and former foreign minister Yang Jiechi, who leads his delegation, is also likely to meet Prime Minister Narendar Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval tomorrow.
