Nepal Prime Minister Pusha Kamal Dahal on Wednesday reaffirmed that the incumbent government will not withdraw the recently registered Constitution Amendment Bill.

Laying the foundation stone for a bridge over the Rapti River in Dang district, the Prime Minister said the bill registered on November 29 would not be overturned come what may, reports the Himalayan Times.

His statement comes as the main opposition Communist Party of Nepal (UML) had been obstructing the parliamentary proceedings demanding the withdrawal of bill.

Stating that the incumbent government forwarded the bill as it was prepared by the erstwhile CPN-UML-led government, Prime Minister Dahal claimed that the UML's protest was a mere propaganda.

Meanwhile, students unions close to the opposition parties today held demonstrations in front of the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar to protest the registration of the constitution amendment proposal in Parliament.

They have also demanded that the proposal should be withdrawn, arguing that it would push the country towards division.
