An online tailoring company has teamed up with a startup company to take measurement for suits using "3D body scanner".

Tailoring company InStitchu is now allowing its customers to log on and order their customised suit with an option of fabrics, buttons, cuts and colours, after their measurements gets taken by mPort's body scanner, News.com.au reported.

The scanners, which are been rolled out in shopping centers around the country, will send their measurements to online tailoring company, which then manufactures the suits in China and get them delivered within a month.

Robin McGowan, mPort's co-founder said that though the self-measurement tool had been well received, there are still a lot of men out there hesitant about measuring up on their own, but he added that the 3D body scanning technology from mPort is just what they need to gain the confidence to purchase tailored suits online.

The first compatible mPort scanner is operational at World Square shopping centre in central Sydney.
