A new Australian film has captured the epic Ashes rivalry between Australia and England on the big screen, as shown during its world premiere on Wednesday, just two weeks ahead of the first Test of the winter series in Brisbane.

The movie, named 'Backyard Ashes', stars actors John Wood, Andrew S. Gilbert and Felix Williamson, and is about two men, an Australian and Englishman, who are rival neighbours living in Wagga Wagga in Australia.

According to News.com.au, the movie shows that tensions boil between the two neighbours when one of the neighbour's pet cat dies by falling into a barbecue when it is hit by a tennis ball from the other neighbour's fence.

However, the report said that instead of taking the matter to court, the two men scoop the cat's ashes into a jar and decide to settle it with a game of backyard cricket.

The report mentioned that the movie took four weeks to shoot from November to December last year and was in the backyards of writer/director Mark Grentell's mother and grandmother's homes in Wagga.
