The National Human Rights Commission, taking suo motu cognizance of media reports of the deaths of two linemen, who were electrocuted while working on a high tension line, has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary, Power, and the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate and superintendent of police.
According to reports, Mohammad Hassan and Saddam Hussain were part of a group of eight, working simultaneously in different parts of the same high tension line in Sector 10 area of Noida when the two were killed.
In its statement, the NHRC observed that if true, the reports raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims, calling for reports within two weeks for the same.
