Showing signs of selling pressure, the Sensex opened with a marginal trail of 106.48 points at 25308.38.
Nifty, on the other hand, showed signs of recovery by trading at around 7697.20.
Total of 717 shares advanced, 420 shares declined and 48 shares remained unchanged.
Major performers were Tata Motors, HDFC, Cipla, Vedanta and Tata Steel. Bharti, GAIL, M&M, Wipro and ICICI Bank were the laggards on the other hand.
