Former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday called on Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to seek his support for Janata Dal-United candidates contesting for seats in the Rajya Sabha polls in the state.

The JD-U has fielded Sharad Yadav, Pawan Verma and Ghulam Rasool for the three Rajya Sabha seats.

Meanwhile, rebel JD-U leader Sabir Ali has also filed his nominations as an independent candidate.

The other leaders who are also in the nomination fray are Independents Anil Kumar Sharma and Dilip Jaiswal.

Sabir Ali and Anil Kumar Sharma are banking on support of those JD-U MLA's who belong to the anti-Nitish camp. Dilip Jaiswal is looking for BJP support to sail through.

The elections for the three Rajya Sabha seats are to be held on June 19.
