Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Madhav on Tuesday said no government would be possible in Jammu and Kashmir without his party.
"Efforts are going on, let's see. Without us, no government is possible. We have to be a part in the government," he told media persons here.
Madhav, who met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today, said his visit was just a courtesy call.
"No comments, it was just a courtesy visit.....I came to Jammu it was just a courtesy visit," he said.
With the elections in Jammu and Kashmir throwing a fractured mandate, the Governor Vohra had written to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to meet him on January 1, and hold discussions about government formation in the state.
The PDP emerged as the single largest party securing 28 seats in the 87 member state Assembly while the BJP bagged 25 seats, the NC could retain just 15 seats while the Congress got 12 seats.
With the major parties scrambling to form a government in the state, the PDP had proposed the option of a grand alliance with the Congress and the NC.
As per reports, the BJP had slammed the proposal, calling it a ploy by the Congress to stay relevant in the state.
