Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of Myanmar's National League for Democracy, will be a minister in the new Cabinet when it takes power this April, ending weeks of speculation over whether she would hold any formal position or not.
Parliament Speaker Mann Win Khaing Than on Tuesday announced the names of 18 ministers during a parliament session.
Mann, however, did not mention the details of which portfolios the Nobel laureate or any of the ministers would hold.
Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) has always provided infrequent details on their plans for government after winning the historic November election last year throwing the military rule from power.
She was barred from taking over as the President of Myanmar as per the Constitution because her two children and late husband were British.
Her close adviser Htin Kyaw was elected the President this month.
Suu Kyi, 70, is the only woman on the list of names.
