The June 30 deadline to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear programme is not 'sacred' and extra time may be necessary, a top negotiator representing Tehran has said.

Abbas Araghchi, a deputy foreign minister and key member of the Iranian team, said that the end of June deadline was selected for the end of negotiations but added that the country will not sacrifice a good agreement for the sake of the schedule, signaling that the final talks may overrun the deadline, reported News24.

The P5+1 nations, including, the U.S., the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and China, accuse Iran of building nuclear weapons under the pretense of developing its nuclear capabilities for civilian purposes. They want Tehran to curb its nuclear ambitions in return for the lifting of United Nations sanctions.
