Obama might cancel one-on-one meet with Putin if Snowden issue remains unresolved

US President Barack Obama is reportedly expected to cancel his meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin on his trip to Russia next month following the political asylum row of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

While the US demanded extradition of the former NSA contractor Snowden for leaking classified data, Russian government has issued him a temporary asylum much to the ire of Obama administration.

According to the Washington Times, after the G-20 summit in St. Petersburg next month, Obama had planned a bilateral meeting with Putin, but the latest reports suggest that the meeting will not take place if the asylum situation is not resolved.

Many of the top US lawmakers have also demanded strict actions against Russia following the 'untold' asylum grant to Snowden and Sen. Charles E. Schumer even said that the proposed meeting should be canceled because Putin was acting like a 'schoolyard bully'.

Meanwhile, Russia which granted Snowden asylum on the condition that he will stop leaking anti-US data any further has strongly refused to hand him over to the US officials.

Rep. Paul Ryan, said that the 'reset' policy has been an utter failure and Russia's move has been a stab in the back and called for strict consequences against the Putin governance, the report added.
