Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said it was unfortunate that an obstructive opposition is preventing a willing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj from giving a statement in the House on the 'baseless' allegations levelled against her with regard to her involvement in facilitating the clearance of travel documents linked to former IPL czar Lalit Modi.
"It is very unfortunate that even though Sushma ji wants to make her statement, she is not being allowed to. Sushma ji has requested that she wants to give her statement on the baseless allegations on her," Rajnath told the media here.
Following the logjam over the Vyapam scam and Lalit Gate, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been adjourned till 2 p.m today.
The Rajya Sabha could function for just eight minutes, after reconvening at 12:30 p.m. for a third time.
The opposition has been demanding that Sushma and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje should be sacked for allegedly helping Lalit Modi.
