One dead, many trapped in Dhanbad mine collapse

At least one person was killed and three others were rescued after a coal mine collapsed near Dhanbad on the West Bengal-Jharkhand border.

Television reports quoted the district collector of Dhanbad, as saying that several miners were still trapped inside the mine, which is owned by Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

Officials said the roof of the mine collapsed. The cause for the collapse is yet to be ascertained, they said.
