A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan lost his life while 35 others were injured on Monday when their bus met with a massive accident near Dudiya firing range in Darjeeling.
The bus was carrying 63 jawans from 41 battalion camp to Dohia for firing practice when one vehicle overturned and fell into a roadside ditch.
All the injured have been admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) near Siliguri.
According to an injured jawan, Kuntal Deka, the bus suddenly fell into a ditch.
Locals helped in rescuing the jawans and admitted them to the nearby hospital. While immediate treatment was given to the injured, one jawan could not be saved.
Government officials also visited the hospital on Monday to see the injured and call for a proper investigation.
