Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday accused the opposition of 'attacking, not listening' to proceedings in the House after the Rajya Sabha adopted an Opposition amendment.

"[Mentions of corruption and balck money] are very much there in the Presidential address and [the opposition] are saying that there is no mention. They want to attack and criticise, but don't want to listen. Every Rajya Sabha member has been given ample time to decide; they cannot even claim that they've been sidelined," Naidu told the media.

Naidu further said the similar motions have been adopted in the past, citing instances in 1980, 1989 and 2001.

Earlier in the day, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury moved the amendment, saying the government's motion did not mention any action against corruption or black money.

"The stifling of the opposition, in not allowing even to ask clarification, to contest what was said in terms of the factual data that was presented by the Prime Minister, even that wasn't allowed. This is never done in the House. That confidence was not created by us or anybody, it was created by the Prime Minister and the ruling party themselves," said Yechury.

The motion passed in majority after 118 members of the House accepted the motion, while 57 voted against it.
